I am not sure what the "dry" capacity is, but I'd bet that there is at least another cup or two trapped in the motor. You'd be amazed how much more oil comes out when you flip an "empty" motor on a stand. If getting all the old oil out is that big of an issue to you, then rinse it with some cheap(er) synthetic oil. This would be a perfect time to do something like a Marvel oil treatment or something like that.
